Where It Started
Scene Kitten started long ago with a feeling: that first moment when changing your hair changes more than just your look.
When I was 15, it began with a tiny piece of bleach folded into foil — long before we had trendy names like money pieces and Scandi hairlines for it. Then I dyed everything red and eventually dyed it all “Black No. 1”.
Around me were people who made style feel fearless, including a friend with neon green hair hidden at the nape of her neck — bold enough to feel rebellious, but tucked away enough to survive the wrong kind of attention.
And that was exactly what made it powerful. It was personal, visible when you wanted it to be and impossible to ignore once you noticed it.
The Original Everything Shower
By 19, I discovered conditioner-based hair dyes and my favorite cherry red color bomb changed everything.
Conditioner-based hair dyes were a flexible solution to let me shift between red and orange hues, making red hair feel wearable, sustainable and easy to refresh and maintain with some exciting variation as a bonus!
Long before “everything showers” became a trend, hair color already was one: messy, exciting, slightly chaotic — and then the reveal. That first look in the mirror when you suddenly feel like a new version of yourself.
More Than a Phase
Hair color became part of something bigger for me.
Pop CDs slowly gave way to goth, melodic heavy metal, emo, indie and so on. Style back then was shaped by early 2000s magazines, supermodels, music videos, movies, Fotolog posts, Myspace profiles and the feeling that your hair, makeup, playlist and mood all belonged to the same universe.
It became a way to explore identity, confidence, rebellion, softness, darkness, glamour and everything in between — not as a phase, but as a language in its own right.
That feeling never left and Scene Kitten was built from it.
